Sound designer / Re-recording mixer
After sound designing and re-recording the acclaimed British series “The Worst Witch”, a multi-format room was built with a customized and versatile ProTools HD systems. This enabled him to gather elements from different departments (Dialogue, Foley, Ambiances, Sound Effects and Music) and to edit, design and mix successful series, movie of the week, documentaries, multimedia for international exhibitions, shorts and animations including the Oscar nominated “Nibbles”.


1997-98

Recording, editing, designing and re-recording within-the-box many years before this was the industry norm by using ProTools software, hardware and associated plug-ins exclusively for documentaries and animation series.
 
1989-97

Sound designer / Editor / Re-recording mixer
Held various positions - ranging from sound editor, mixer, sound designer - on a wide range of public and private broadcast TV shows, documentaries and series. Using hardware, software and methodologies, that were well in advance for the time, enabling him to work on local and national commercial campaigns.
 
1975-89

Sound technician / Mixer
Began as an audio quality control operator that enabled him to develop his technical listening skills. He then moved on to a sound reinforcement company installing, operating and troubleshooting P.A. systems enabling him to understand different workflows. As a freelancer, he put into practice everything he knew about recording and automated mixing. Working in a wide variety of studio environments (multi-tracks, multi-machines, MIDI, etc.) together with a good cross-section of clients allowed him to extend his expertise and enabled him to work on award winning productions ranging from albums, radio and TV jingles, to short films and multimedia.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with different digital audio workstations especially Digidesign’s ProTools software, hardware and associated plug-ins in a re-recording setting.
  • Experience in creating sound effects in a professional audio post-production environment. (ProTools, Kontak, Omnisphere, Iris, etc..)
  • Extensive experience in on-site surround sound mixing for international exhibits.
  • Proven ability to produce a large volume of work in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Established knowledge and expertise in audio recording and mixing.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and to respond to the needs of clients in a professional and organized manner.
 
 
ADDITIONAL SKILLS:
  • Being an Apple power user enables him to design, install, troubleshoot and  maintain systems for a large variety of clients.
  • Taught the “Audio-sync-to-Video" class as well as the "Engineering" courses for TREBAS the Institute of Recording Arts, Montreal.
  • Wrote and taught a forty-five (45) hour course based on ProTools for multimedia at various colleges and universities.
